ID Card Disclaimer

An identification (ID) card is not a license to drive, it is for identification purposes only.

Anyone of any age can obtain an identification card. Although, persons under 16 years of age must have a parent or legal guardian sign for them.

By law, you may not possess more than one REAL ID compliant certificate at a time (e.g., a Colorado driver license and a Utah ID.)

DPC (driving privilege card) applicants are not eligible for an identification card.

Suppose you can no longer drive due to medical reasons or age, or you wish to surrender your driving privilege permanently. In that case, you may be eligible to surrender your Utah driver license for a Utah state identification card free of charge. You may make an appointment to appear at a Driver License office to take a photo and sign the identification card application, or if you wish to apply through the mail, don’t hesitate to contact Customer Service at 801.965.4437 to see if you qualify.
