CDL Third-Party Tester Process
Third-party testers are essential in the commercial driver license (CDL) program for the state of Utah.
**Tester is a company that sponsors examiners to administer the CDL driving skills test.
**Examiners are individual employees that work for a tester (company.)
Individuals interested in applying to be a part of the program must:
Step 1: Read administrative rule R708-21
Step 2: Submit the application packet
Step 3: Attend a certification class
Step 4: Take a driving skills test
It may take 60 days to review the application packet for accuracy and provide any feedback for changes if necessary. (SLCC) maintains the waiting list and charges its own fee for the certification course. To inquire about the class, you can contact SLCC during regular business hours at 801.957.2266 or 801.957.2265.
