Health Care Professionals

Health care professionals (HCPs) are essential in helping the division determine if a medical condition will affect a person's ability to drive safely.  To assist the health care professionals, the Utah Medical Advisory Board (MAB) created the Medical Standards and Guidelines

Health care professionals are responsible for making recommendations and providing appropriate information related to driving safety to their patients.  A health care professional who becomes aware of a physical, mental, or emotional impairment that appears to present an imminent threat to driving safety and reports this information to the division in good faith has immunity from any damages claimed as a result of making the report.

We appreciate the role health care professionals play in providing public safety to the citizens of Utah.
