Limited “Hardship” License

If your driving privileges have been suspended, revoked, or denied, you may qualify for a limited license.  According to Utah Codes 53-3-220(4) and 53-3-221(6), the division has the authority to issue a limited license for certain sanctions.

A limited license doesn’t provide full driving privileges but may come with restrictions on driving to and from specific locations at certain times.  For instance, it may allow travel to and from work, school, or child visitation.

To determine if your driving record qualifies for a limited license, please contact a hearing officer.  The hearing officer will review your record to assess if you meet the requirements outlined in the code.  If you meet the criteria, the hearing officer will guide you through the process of obtaining the limited license.

Below, you’ll find general information about some of the requirements for limited licenses.
