Driving Record (MVR)

An MVR will display reportable arrests/convictions, department actions, and license status.
Time Period
Most information is displayed for 3 years; however, DUI or drug-related charges will be displayed for 10 years.
Permissible Uses
The requester must qualify under the permissible uses of the Driver Privacy Protection Act (DPPA) to obtain an MVR.
Employers/Background Checks/Insurance Agencies
The state of Utah requires every organization involved in the retrieval or monitoring of Utah Driver History Records (DHRs) to create a Utah.gov account. Once you have created your account, start your Utah Driver History Record search and find out more information.
Other Record Types
- Full driving history record can be purchased in an office or by mail (not common.)
- Certified copy of your driving history record that is prepared under the seal of the division can only be purchased by mail (not common.)
- Other division records can be found using the GRAMA Public Records Center.
