What is a reinstatement fee?
If your driving privilege has been suspended, denied, or revoked for multiple reasons, you may be required to pay a "reinstatement" fee for each department action (citation) to restore your driver license back to a valid status. The following are examples of why you would need to pay a reinstatement fee and the cost:
- If you have been suspended for too many points on your driving record, you will be required to pay a $40.00 reinstatement fee.
- If you have a no insurance conviction, you will be required to carry an SR22 insurance policy and pay a $40.00 reinstatement fee.
- If you have received a ticket and you failed to appear in court (FTA), you will be required to pay the court fees, bring in a court docket showing the FTA was cleared, and pay a $40.00 reinstatement fee.
- For an alcohol/drug-related offense, there is a $85.00 reinstatement fee, plus an additional administrative fee of $255.00. The fees depend on the sanctions taken against the record.
