Renew ID Card - Not US Citizen
What you need to know
- Renew up to 6 months early before it expires.
- Online renewal is not available.
- Under 21?
- Renewing before 21 keeps the minor label on your ID.
- An adult ID can be issued on or after your 21st birthday.
What you need to do
Fill out application and schedule appointment
- REQUIRED: Online application
- SAVE TIME: Make appointment
Gather your documents - must bring to appointment
- Bring your current Utah limited-term ID card.
- Bring your current lawful presence identity document.
- A S.A.V.E. verification will be run to verify your document status (this process may take up to 14 days.) Get information about S.A.V.E verifications.
- Has your address changed? If yes, bring two (2) documents proving your Utah address. You can avoid providing proof if you submit your address change online before your scheduled appointment.
- Has your name changed? If yes, bring proof of your name change
- Get details about acceptable documents
At your appointment
- Have confirmation # ready to check-in
- Get photo taken
- Show documents (if address or name has changed)
- Pay non-refundable fee of $23
- If under 16, have parent sign for you

When do I get my ID card?
- A temporary identification card with a photo will be issued on the same day.
- The completed identification card will have an expiration date of your legal presence document or five (5) years, whichever is sooner; or 1-year from the date of issuance if there is no expiration date, and will then be mailed to you in approximately 6-8 weeks.
