On September 29, 2025, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) published an interim final rule requiring states to pause the issuance of limited-term Commercial Driver's Licenses (CDLs) until they comply with the new rules and regulations. The State of Utah is currently working to meet these requirements and will update this page when it is able to resume issuing non-domiciled CDLs.

What you need to know
Update your address within 30 days of moving
- Required by federal regulations for CDL holders
- Must obtain a new license with the new address on it
Required to visit DLD office
- Online address change is NOT an option for CDL holders
Two documents with proof of new address
- Bring two documents showing proof of your new address to your appointment
Renew or replace based on expiration date
Renew if your CDL expires in next 6 months
- License will have new 5-year expiration date
- Will have new address and/or name

- License will have same expiration date it currently has
- Will have new address and/or name
