Learner Permit

What is a learner permit?

A learner permit is given to a person who is learning to drive but has not yet met all the requirements for a full driver license.  It is typically the first step in the process of getting a full driver license and is designed to allow new drivers to practice their driving skills under supervision on public roads.

Parents signing for financial responsibility

A parent or legal guardian is required to sign for financial responsibility for the minor driver who is under the age of 18.  If at any time the parent or legal guardian would like to withdraw their signature, the action would invalidate the driver license, and the minor driver would need to wait to reapply until they reach the age of 18.  There would be a licensing fee and a written knowledge test to reapply.
