What you need to know
General information:
- Renew up to 6 months early before it expires.
- Online renewal not available.
- Written test required if:
- More than one citation in a year.
- DPC was suspended, revoked, or expired over 6 months.
- Test must be taken in English.
What you need to do
Fill out online application & make appointment

- SAVE TIME: Make appointment
Gather your documents - must bring to appointment
- Bring your current Utah driving privilege card.
- Bring 2 (two) proofs of identity (name and date of birth)
- If you need to have your documents translated into English, find an approved translator list here.
- Bring your social security card or individual tax identification number (ITIN.)
- Two (2) documents providing proof of your Utah address.
- Bring completed fingerprint card and photograph from local agency.
- If your name has changed, bring proof of your new name.
At your appointment
- Have your confirmation number ready to check-in
- Have photo taken
- Present documents
- Pass eye test
- Pay the non-refundable fee of $23.00
- If required (because of expiration, suspensions, or multiple citations), you will then take the written knowledge test - required to test in English.

When do I get my driving privilege card?
- After all requirements for a DPC have been completed, you will receive a temporary no-privilege document that is a receipt only.
- The completed DPC will expire on the birth date in the first year from the date the card was issued or renewed and will then be mailed to you in approximately 6-8 weeks.
